2027 Chinese Grand Prix: Will Shanghai Open the Formula 1 Season?
According to the preliminary Formula 1 calendar, the Chinese Grand Prix will take place from April 16 to 18, 2027, at the Shanghai International Circuit in Shanghai. This modern circuit, opened in 2004, is known for its challenging corners and long straights, making it one of the most exciting tracks for drivers and spectators. The Shanghai International Circuit can accommodate up to 200,000 spectators, offering excellent conditions for watching the races.The round in China could be the first of the season if events in the Middle East are cancelled. In that case, the Chinese Grand Prix would open the season, followed by the round in Japan. This is due to the impossibility of rescheduling the Australian Grand Prix due to the construction of a new garage building in Melbourne.
The format of the weekend has not yet been confirmed, but there is a possibility of using the sprint format, which was previously used at the Chinese round. The final decision will be announced later.
